Welcome to the official website of Hatfield College Boat Club; arguably one of the most sucessful and well resourced clubs on the river Wear. Older than Durham Unversity Boat Club, HCBC has been a prominent force in the North East since 1846.

The club is situated right on the college’s doorstep, so rowing has remained an ever popular sport in Hatfield. We are lucky to own a flotilla of 4 VIIIs, 6 IVs and 4 singles alongside an ergo suite with 10 Concept 2 rowing machines.

Today the club continues striving to push the limits of college rowing and triumph over its rivals, the oldest being University College Boat Club. Year on year rowing is growing in popularity in Hatfield and is now one of the largest college sporting clubs. The key to its popularity is the competitive nature of the club balanced with a social community that continues to thrive.
