Durham City and Hexham Regatta

We are nearing the end of regatta season and it has been a hugely successful period for the club. At Durham City Regatta our Women’s first IV dominated their category in the grueling long course race. The Men’s third VIII had an comfortable win against Collingwood’s first VIII in a straight final in novice category. Our Fresh Girl’s first VIII met the third VIII in the final of the novice category which led to a certain Hatfield victory! Finally our Men’s first Novice IV pulled away from a DARC boat despite one rower falling off of his seat very early on.

At Hexham, the first win of the day was in IM1 category for the Women’s first IV against Mary’s, a win of numerous boat lengths. Following in suit, the Men’s first VIII went on to win the IM3 category by beating John’s first round, beating DARC schoolboys in second round and finishing off Castle in the final. The final win of the day was the Men’s top IV who, after rowing in the VIII, went on to row 4 or 5 more rounds to win IM3 IVs.

Unfortunately Durham Regatta was canceled due to poor weather conditions resulting in flooding. We are now looking forward to Marlow and Henley for the Men’s first VIII.
